Major Activity Highlights

  • NSM held our second annual da Vinci Society and Distinguished Alumni Recognition Dinner. The event honored distinguished alumni and individuals with a cumulative lifetime giving level of $50,000 or more, or who have included NSM in their estate plans at a minimum of $50,000 (including 5 faculty). Of note, Paula and Rick Short attended, as did Beth Robertson (da Vinci Society honoree) and Jaime González (NSM’s 2019 Distinguished Alumni awardee).
  • NSM signed a $1 million dollar agreement with ConocoPhillips to help support data science faculty and students in Math and Computer Science.
  • NSM held our spring External Advisory Board meeting April 12.
  • NSM faculty meeting was held on March 19.
  • NSM submitted the FY20 budget/hiring request to the Provost along with a progress report on our “College Success Measures” and “Strategic Plan.”
  • The chair searches are continuing for Physics and Earth & Atmospheric Sciences. Announcements are expected in the May newsletter.
