COVID-19 Free Testing Options
UH’s COVID-19 Team is encouraging everyone – students, faculty, and staff – to take a COVID-19 test three-to-five days prior to their return to campus to prevent the risk of transmission from asymptomatic carriers.
To make it easier, UH is offering three options:
- Use the NEW testing site on campus. On Jan 20, a free COVID-19 testing site for faculty, staff, and students—symptomatic or asymptomatic—opened. The COVID testing kiosk, located in front of the UH Student Center, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Operated by Curative and funded by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, this facility offers free COVID tests by appointment to all UH students, faculty, and staff with valid UH Cougar Card IDs. This particular test is self-performed by the individual swabbing his or her mouth, under the supervision of Curative personnel. Results are returned by email within 48 hours of the test arriving at the lab.
- Use Student Health Center, which is available for faculty, staff, and students who are symptomatic or have been identified as exposed AND are participating in on-campus courses, or living or working on campus. There is no charge for those with health insurance.
- Use one of the free testing sites available from the city of Houston.
