NSM teachHOUSTON STEM Interactive Virtual Summer Experience
The NSM teachHOUSTON program is launching its first virtual summer experience. The teachHOUSTON STEM Interactive program kicks off on June 22 with the goal of inspiring 6th–9th grade students’ interest in STEM. It is free of charge.
The program consists of 3 weeks of activities which will be posted daily on various STEM topics including Mathematics, Life Science, Earth and Environmental Science, Engineering Design and Innovation, and Physical Science. Participants will view a lesson video and engage in Interactive Mini-Lessons, Science Experiments, Prototyping, and Engineering Design Challenges for 2–3 hours per day.
So far, more than 2,000 families have signed up via the program’s interest form.
As part of this experience, the outstanding research of the NSM and Engineering faculty will be highlighted through short, Research Expert videos. One or more videos will be highlighted each day of the program, June 22–July 10, for viewing by program participants and their families. The lessons and videos will continue to be available on the program website for viewing throughout the year.
This virtual STEM program is expected to reach thousands of students in the Houston area, in Texas, and throughout the U.S. STEM Interactive is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation and has been promoted by NSF via their social media channels.
