Volunteers Needed to Mentor Transfer Students
The Office of First Year Programs is excited to be recruiting faculty/staff mentors for NSM’s Transfer Mentor Program! This program provides additional support to incoming transfer students, who often do not get the full breadth of resources afforded to first-time-in-college students (FTICs).
What is Mentorship?
NSM Faculty/Staff Mentors focus on the individual and academic success of incoming transfer students during their first semester at UH.
What Does This Look Like?
Anything and everything! We encourage our faculty/staff mentors to meet with their mentee at least 3 times throughout the semester. This can be in person or through Zoom!
What We Ask of Faculty/Staff Mentors
- Must have sufficient time to meet one-on-one with their mentee at least three times throughout the semester.
- Must have (or be willing to learn) sufficient knowledge of student success resources available on campus. Training on student resources will be provided to mentors throughout the semester by the Office of First Year Programs.
Both faculty and staff mentors are needed so if you are interested, please sign-up here.
If you have any questions or would like additional information, please email Hannah Ford in the Office of First Year Programs at hrford@central.uh.edu.
