College Holds Annual “Hot Topics in NSM” Three-Minute Thesis Competition
On Friday, October 11, NSM held the annual “Hot Topics in NSM” Three-Minute Thesis Competition.
Over 100 graduate students and faculty gathered to view 15 presenters representing all the College’s departments. After each three-minute presentation, there was time for 1–2 questions to be asked and answered. All presenters spoke of their outstanding research with great skill.
Audience Choice Award
The audience voted for their favorite presentation at the end, with Prachi Garella of the Department of Physics taking the honor for “Neutron Stars: A Universe within a Universe.” Garella is mentored by Claudia Ratti.
Judges Choice Award
The panel of judges, composed of a graduate student representative from each department, awarded Shinjini Basu of the Department of Biology & Biochemistry with the “Judges Choice” award for her presentation, “A Light at the End of the Tunnel: Targeting Therapy Resistance in Breast Cancer.” Basu is mentored by Chin-Yo Lin.
