Staff Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Update
The goal of the NSM Staff Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is to share awareness opportunities so that we begin to compassionately consider diversity, equity, and inclusion in all its forms. We rounded up a few awareness opportunities for March.
- March is Women’s History Month. Started in 1987, Women’s History Month recognizes all women for their valuable contributions to history and society.
- You’re invited to the rescheduled NSM Movie Night #4: Hidden Figures on March 26 that will highlight the talent of women of color and in science!
- March is also National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and National Multiple Sclerosis Education and Awareness Month.
Resources and Upcoming Events
- If you are still recovering from Winter Storm Uri, a Winter Storm crowdsourcing group, now rebranded through Staff Council, has been created for staff to inquire, share, and find recovery-related resources in the greater Houston community. This group is accessible via your Cougarnet log-in credentials.
- Join the committee on March 26 for a Meet & Greet Staff Lunch and Learn from 12-1 p.m. Click here to join the Teams meeting on Friday, March 26. We’ll have some new initiatives to announce and engagement opportunities!
- Upcoming workshops can be found here through the UH Center for Diversity and Inclusion webpage.
