Jeremy May Named Associate Dean
Dean Dan Wells is pleased to announce that Jeremy May, professor in the Department of Chemistry, has been appointed as the next Associate Dean for Graduate Affairs. May will spend the next four months working closely with Anne Delcour to ensure a smooth transition. Delcour officially retires at the end of May 2022.
May was chosen from a select group of NSM faculty nominated for the position. Each nominated faculty member was carefully reviewed by an ad hoc committee, which included current Associate and Assistant Deans. The Dean was presented with the advantages and disadvantages of the top three candidates, who were closely evaluated prior to May’s selection.
His credentials include serving in the following capacities:
- Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in the Department of Chemistry since 2017
- Chair of the Chemistry Graduate Studies Committee since 2017
- Chair of the Chemistry Recruiting and Admissions Committee since 2017
- Member of NSF Graduate Committee since 2017
- Member of the Graduate and Professional Studies Committee of the Faculty Senate since 2019
- Mentored research of 28 Ph.D. students, six thesis-based master’s students, and two visiting international Ph.D. students
- Reviewer of NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Proposals for the past 8 years
- Panel Member for NSM graduate student workshops
