New Proposal Submissions
In May, NSM faculty submitted 21 research proposals (including 3 to NSF, 3 to DOE, 2 to NIH, 1 to DOD, and 1 to DOT) totaling over $5.7M in funds.

Awarded Research Grants
Ilya Timofeyev and Mikhail Perepelitsa (Mathematics) were awarded a $400K grant from the NSF: “Collaborative Research: Mechanisms of Multicellular Self-Organization in Myxococcus Xanthus.”
William Sager (Earth & Atmospheric Sciences) was awarded a $102K supplement grant from the NSF: “Tectonic Evolution of the Rio Grande Rise – Walvis Ridge Hotspot Twins Inferred from Magnetic Anomaly and Seismic Reflection Data.”
Robert Schwartz (Biology & Biochemistry) was awarded a $50K salary reimbursement from Animatus Biosciences LLC.
Vaughn Climenhaga (Mathematics) was awarded a $48K supplement grant from the NSF: “Career: Unifying Approaches to Non-Uniform Hyperbolicity.”
Chin-Yo Lin (CNRCS) was awarded a $25K grant from Golfers Against Cancer – Houston: “Novel Target Mechanisms and Targeting Agents in the Treatment of Breast and Pancreatic Cancers.”
