Upcoming Culture & Science Events in October
NSM will host two Culture & Science events in October: Movie Night on October 23 and an Oktoberfest Beer Tasting on October 29. All faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to participate.
NSM Movie Night: Angels and Demons
Friday, October 23
6:30–10 pm
Dive into the mysteries of the Vatican with Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons on Movie Night! Live discussion and post-movie Q&A will be led by NSM’s Rene Bellwied, M.D. Anderson Chair Professor of Physics.
How Does Movie Night Work?
Each month, NSM features a science-based movie. Details are posted to our Movie Night webpage and NSM Facebook. Selected movies will be available on popular digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, Netflix, or Hulu.
On movie night, everyone watches the movie on their own. Before the movie, the NSM faculty host will introduce the science theme via Zoom. After the movie, you’ll be able to tune in to a live Q&A discussion of whether the science, as depicted in the movie, is realistic or even possible.
RSVP to Participate – Movie Night
You’ll receive the Zoom link via email two days prior to the event.
The Complexities of Beer: How Scientists Celebrate Oktoberfest
Thursday, October 29
6:30–8 pm
Join us and celebrate Oktoberfest, the only way we know how—with science!
