NSM Video: Biology Research Experiences for Teachers
What do biology teachers do in the summer? Genetics research!
Through the Houston Genetics BIORETS program, high school biology teachers had an intensive, six-week research experience in laboratories at UH’s Department of Biology and Biochemistry. They also received training on culturally responsive teaching and inquiry from teachHOUSTON.
The program, funded by the National Science Foundation, was organized by Rich Meisel, Biology & Biochemistry. Jacqueline Ekeoba, teachHOUSTON master teacher, led the teacher training portion.
