Faculty Development Workshops for Fall 2021

NSM has returned to offering monthly Faculty Development Workshops. The October workshop, scheduled for October 15, features LabArchives presenting two sessions on the use of Electronic Lab Notebooks in research laboratories and in teaching labs and design courses.

Staff DEI Upcoming Event: Picture a Scientist Film Discussion

On October 21, NSM’s Staff DEI Committee presents a staff virtual discussion of the documentary, Picture a Scientist. The movie centers on the lives of three female scientists and their triumphs and struggles making STEM open to all.

2021–2022 Replacement Faculty Searches

NSM was approved to pursue nine tenured/tenure-track replacement searches. Most of these are posted and accepting applications. To encourage a large and diverse applicant pool, all of us should help by reaching out to organizations with potential diverse candidates as well as to PIs/Mentors and to candidates themselves.

Presidential Frontier Faculty Program

The program, instituted by UH President Renu Khator, is an aggressive commitment to hire up to 100 NEW faculty lines. The goal is to increase research expenditures as well as other metrics for elevating UH into the top 50 Association of American Universities.

Faculty Award Opportunities – UH Level

The Provost recently announced the annual University-level award nomination deadlines. Please strongly consider seeking nomination for relevant awards.
